Born during the civil war period in Beirut, Lebanon, Marcus Lemonis was adopted while a toddler by Leo and Sophia, then living in Miami. Marcus Lemonis graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1995. After failing to capture the Florida House of Representative seat, he went back to the automotive industry he was familiar with while growing up.

Similar to the Shark Tank Investors investing their own money into a business, Marcus also uses his own money during the Show. The biggest difference between The Profit Show and The Shark Tank Show is the types of businesses they invest in. The Sharks are more like Angel Investors seeking to put their money to work in new start-ups with lots of future potential.
